I've always been driven by a desire to "make.” Combining materials with tools and skill to create a product that is greater than the sum of its parts. As I studied my mother in the kitchen, I was captivated by how she could transform random ingredients into beautiful meals, simply by applying heat, time, and a bit of wisdom. Following her cooking style also formed an approach to creativity—gather what's around you, find the heat, and draw from experience. Using available light and intentional conversation, my aim is to bear witness to each subject's spirit through an image as unique as that person. Portrait photography is the intersection of my favorite things: technical skill, artistic freedom, and people. With it, I hope to share stories, learn from others, and capture a beautiful image with significance beyond just a photo.
